Newly developed product "Gussuline 2-V "(2-v pronounced niivui in the local dialect means sleepy) made from Plant (scientific term: Hemerocallis fulvavar. Sempervilens/Japanese: aki no wasuregusa/ Okinawa dialect: kwanso) which has been traditionally eaten as a kind of vegetables in Okinawa of Japan., has just been sold by Kurei Okinawa Co., Ltd. This plant is commonly known to the west as daylily while to China and other Asian countries as Golden needles or Kwanzo.
The history that Kwanso was used for cooking application is said to originate in China. It is usually stir fried with pork chop meat together with other protein and amino acid abundant vegetables and mushrooms. In Okinawa young leaves of kwanso even with flowers and buts are cooked with port meat in soup together with other vegetables and tofu for sound sleep and tranqilizer.
Kurei Okinawa Co., Ltd. succeeded in merchandizing the product development with the mixture of condensed Moromi vinegar powder, which is extracted from by-product of Awamori local Liquor after distillation, and which contains much of amino acids, minerals and protein.. Moromi vinegar powder takes over the important role of amino acids, minerals and protein in stead of port meat and other vegetables in the newly developed product.
It has been taken widely common in China, Japan and other Asian countries that there would be some sleeping substances in the plant of Kwanso or daylily. It had no evidence which substances are effective for sleeping promotion, but it was released and specified on the date of August 25, 2007 that "OXYPINNATANINE" was a substance promoting sleep by Dr. Urade of Osaka Bioscience Institute and Professor Konishi of Doshisha Women's College of Arts in the forum of Sleep 2007 at Okinawa Business Assistance Center.
The new born product is so innovative as to be manufactured on the basis of Okinawa (Ryukyu) Moromi Vinegar 6 times condensed powder including as much protein, amino and citric acid as possible without any damage to them.
